Desires

One of the most controversial topics in the spiritual world, is desire and its fulfillment. Many seekers have many different opinions about what is right and wrong. Some advocate either extreme, and others advocate a self defined "medium" path.  Perhaps there is no single answer to such questions - every seeker is unique and so is the path.  The Illusion of Fulfillment: Desires Are Never Satisfied Desires are insatiable. No matter how much we try to satisfy them, they only grow stronger. This is evident in human nature—when one goal is achieved, another arises. Fulfilling a desire does not lead to lasting satisfaction; rather, it fuels more intense cravings. The more one indulges in pleasure, the more the mind seeks repetition of that pleasure, leading to a vicious cycle of want and temporary gratification. Introduction The connection between a spiritual master and a disciple is one of the most profound and transformative relationships in the spiritual journey. However, to truly benefit from this relationship, one must approach it with clarity and discernment. Below, we explore four key principles that illuminate this sacred bond. God Alone is the Real Master At the heart of all spiritual teachings is the understanding that God is the ultimate source of wisdom and guidance. While the divine often works through human forms, it is crucial to remember that the human teacher is merely an instrument. Just as sunlight may pour through a window, the window is not the source of light—it is only a conduit. When we forget this truth, we risk idolizing the human teacher, which can lead to dependency or disillusionment. Recognizing God as the real Master shifts our focus to the infinite and eternal, helping us to maintain a balanced and discerning approach to our spiritual journey. It fosters humilit...

Three Steps to Oneness

Introduction The journey of spiritual life is an inward expedition—a quest to realize our eternal essence. It is a profound undertaking that transcends worldly pursuits, inviting us to break free from illusions and merge with the ultimate reality. This path, though arduous, is illuminated by three significant steps: Vairagya (dispassion), the understanding of God’s manifestation in the world, and the dissolution of the individual ego. Each step is a gateway to a higher state of consciousness, guiding the seeker toward the supreme goal of self-realization. Step 1: Realization of One Supreme Being सः एको द्वितीयो नास्ति।  “Sah eko dvitiyo nasti” —He alone exists; there is no second. The first step in spiritual life is Vairagya, or dispassion. It begins with a profound realization that there is only one supreme being—the ultimate source of eternal bliss. This realization dawns when the seeker comprehends the transient nature of worldly pleasures and material achievements. The Illusion...
